Herrera reached way into the bushes beyond the center field wall to rob Freeman of a home run, but the Braves wound up beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 Saturday night. The Phillies didn't hit much and they didn't get a stellar pitching performance from Nick Pivetta in absorbing a 4-1 loss against the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park Saturday night. In defeat, Phillies centerfielder Odubel Herrera gave everyone something to talk about when he robbed Braves' slugger Freddie Freeman of what would have been a two-run home run in the top of the third inning. At his worst, Odubel Herrera can be frustrating to watch. Herrera, who had the first multi-homer game of his career in the Phillies' 7-3 win over the Braves Friday (see observations), has reached base in 27 straight games, best in the major leagues. The Phillies have placed right-hander Ben Lively on the 10-day disabled list with a lower back strain, according to an announcement on Friday. In a corresponding move, right-handed reliever Jack Thompson has been recalled from Triple-A LeHigh Valley. The team has yet to reveal the severity of Lively’s injury, but the 26-year-old righty was believed to have sustained — or, at the very least exacerbated — a bout of back tightness during a disastrous outing against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
