Ryan Braun walked away in the eighth and walked off in the ninth. Braun and Christian Yelich hit consecutive homers off Dominic Leone with two out in the ninth, sending the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night. Leone (0-1) retired the first two batters, but then lost Yelich on a 2-2 pitch before Braun whacked the next one for his fourth career game-ending homer. Continue to Article

Didi Gregorius hit a pair of three-run home runs and set a career high with eight RBIs as the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 11-4 Tuesday in manager Aaron Boone's home debut at Yankee Stadium. Gregorius recorded his second career multi-homer performance in a game played in a misting rain. The game-time temperature of 40 was the second lowest in 10 home openers at the new Yankee Stadium. Pitcher Miles Mikolas hit a home run and got the win in his return from a three-year stint in Japan, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat Milwaukee 8-4 on Monday to spoil the Brewers' home opener. Paul DeJong connected for the second straight game, hitting his third homer this season to boost the Cardinals. The Brewers had opened the season with a three-game sweep at San Diego. Mikolas (1-0) gave up a two-run homer to Eric Thames and solo shots to Lorenzo Cain and Manny Pina. But the 29-year-old righty benefited from the Cardinals' own outburst at hitter-friendly Miller Park. Mikolas (1-0) got in on the fun in the fifth with his first major league hit — a two-run homer off Zach Davies (0-1) that Continue to Article

Among them, every single person expressed excitement and hope for the Mets in 2018. Similarly, they were all happy knowing Mickey Callaway was in the dugout. The last time I recall encountering this level optimism was 2016, six months after the Mets made a surprising and entertaining run through the National League playoffs and World Series. This year, though, six months after watching the team lose 92 games, fire their manager and return with mostly the same roster, I was surprised -- but happy -- to hear optimism from 25 out of 25 fans. "I know it's a lot of the same players, Continue to Article

Ji-Man Choi says being with the Milwaukee Brewers reminds him of a fun day at an amusement park. The Brewers enjoyed a wild ride on opening day, beating the San Diego Padres 2-1 in 12 innings on Thursday. Reliever Jeremy Jeffress emphatically pumped his fists several times after getting Chase Headley to hit into a bases-loaded double play in the 11th, and then Orlando Arcia singled in Choi with two outs in the 12th inning.
