The San Francisco Giants released Jarrett Parker on Friday after the veteran outfielder cleared waivers. Parker was designated for assignment when the Giants added No. 3 starter Derek Holland to the 40-man roster Monday. Parker, 29, had been a notable member of the Giants' revolving door of left fielders the last several seasons, starting at the position on Opening Day last year. Continue to Article

The Oakland Athletics have offered to take over paying $136 million in debt to take ownership of the Coliseum site, where they can build their long-needed, baseball-only stadium. A's President Dave Kaval recently made the offer to officials of Oakland and Alameda County, who operate the Coliseum, as the team seeks a site for a new stadium in Oakland after being turned down for its first choice downtown in December. Kaval said Tuesday he has gotten positive feedback already from Alameda County officials and plans to meet with Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf on Wednesday to discuss the plan, which he says will save the city and county $20 million a year on debt service on the stadium and assure a professional team remains in the city after the Warriors and Raiders move in the next few years. Here’s a new twist in the never-ending saga that is the Oakland Athletics’ stadium search: the A’s have offered to purchase the Coliseum and the land on which it sits from the City of Oakland and Alameda, California. The offer comes in the form of a letter sent Sunday by Oakland A’s president Dave Kaval, and which the A’s tweeted out a few hours ago (see below). Continue to Article

Hey, Giants fans. It's gonna cost ya to motor up to the Coliseum. The Oakland Athletics announced on Saturday a playful pricing plan for parking at their stadium for games against the Bay Bridge rivals. A's season-ticket holders can get prepaid parking for $10 and other Oakland fans will pay $30 — but anyone rooting for the neighboring Giants will be charged $50. Team president Dave Kaval says any Giants fan who wants to pay the $30 needs only to yell "Go A's" at the parking gates. The Athletics host the Giants in an exhibition game on Sunday and in a three-game series July 20-22. The Athletics instituted a plan last year allowing fans to trade in a Giants hat for a free A's hat. Whether this Continue to Article
