Sidney Crosby batted in his own rebound 19 seconds into overtime to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 4-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday in Newark, N.J. Scary moment in the first period of Monday’s game in Edmonton between the Oilers and Columbus Blue Jackets when linesman Steve Barton hit his head on the ice following a collision with Connor McDavid. According to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector, Barton was taken to a local hospital and was speaking to doctors and moving all extremities during the trip. #NHL says linesman Steve Barton, who was stretchered off early in Tuesday’s #CBJ–#LetsGoOilers game, spent the night in an Edmonton hospital. Columbus Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno is expected to miss two to four weeks with a lower-body injury, a major development in the Eastern Conference playoff race. General manager Jarmko Kekalainen announced a timeline Monday in which Foligno could be out for the rest of the regular season and some of the playoffs. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers are one of the potential first-round matchups in the Metropolitan Division playoffs, and if it ends up happening Sunday’s game was a nice indication of what sort of chaos could be ahead of us in a couple of weeks. The Penguins were able to pick up a 5-4 overtime win in a back-and-forth game that featured nine goals, 77 shots on goal, a couple of highlight reel goals, and an incredible pace to help solidify their position in the second spot in the Metropolitan Division. Bryan Rust scored the game-winning goal in overtime, re-directing a Sidney Crosby pass to help the Penguins complete the regular season sweep of the Flyers. Continue to Article
