Wayne Simmonds and the Flyers are playing every game as if it's the postseason. Simmonds scored two goals to lift the Flyers past the Washington Capitals 6-3 on Sunday night, capping a four-point weekend and helping Philadelphia solidify its playoff position. Oskar Lindblom, Shayne Gostisbehere, Ivan Provorov and Jakub Voracek also had goals for Philadelphia (37-25-11, 85 points), which stayed in third place in the Metropolitan Division and moved within four points of the first-place Capitals (41-24-7, 89 points). Brayden Schenn's wrister from the right circle at 1:02 of overtime gave the St. Louis Blues a critical 4-3 win over the visiting New York Rangers on Saturday night at Scottrade Center. After goalie Jake Allen stopped Chris Kreider's point-blank bid for a game-winner, Schenn tallied his 25th goal off a pass from Alex Pietrangelo, who earned his third point of the night. The result gave the Blues 81 points, three points out of the last playoff spot in the Western Conference with 11 games left. Continue to Article

Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Flyers are probably going to make the playoffs, but it’s not the safe bet it was looking like just a couple weeks ago.  Going into the month, the Flyers had a 34-19-10 record, but now they’re sitting at 35-25-11 after a 5-3 loss to Columbus last night. Currently the Flyers still hold the third spot in the Metropolitan Division, but just four points separate them and the Florida Panthers, which don’t occupy a playoff spot, but have 77 points in 68 contests after earning a 3-0 win over Boston on Thursday.  So if the Flyers don’t right their ship soon, they’ll be in a lot of trouble. As it stands, the Flyers' decision to acquire Petr Mrazek from Detroit hasn’t been paying off lately.  You can’t blame Philadelphia for acquiring a goaltender after losing both Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth to injuries, but Mrazek has looked ugly during the Flyers’ recent slump with a 1-5-1 record, 4.04 GAA, and .863 save percentage in seven March starts.  They need him to bounce back soon.
