LOS ANGELES -- The dread of a mid-game locker room trip for All-Star power forward Anthony Davis is all too familiar for the New Orleans Pelicans. But Davis often comes back. And his latest comeback from a mid-game scare spooked the LA Clippers more than anyone else Tuesday night. Davis shook off the rib injury that caused him to leave the game with 3:04 left in the first half to score 31 second-half points, finishing with a game-high 41 points to go with 13 rebounds, and help the Pelicans to a 121-116 victory. The Clippers have become the 20th NBA team to put an ad on their jersey — and it will start tonight (Tuesday) vs. the Pelicans. Los Angeles had reached a deal with Bumble, the dating and social networking app where (in heterosexual matchups) the women have to contact the men first. It was the diversity of Steve Ballmer’s workforce — the Clippers have Gillian Zucker as President of Business Operations, the only woman in the NBA with that job and title — that helped drive the deal with female-led Bumble. Steve Ballmer wants to get his Los Angeles Clippers out of the dominating shadow of the Lakers. The Clippers play in the Staples Center, a building built thanks to the Kobe/Shaq era Lakers that has become synonymous with purple and gold.
