Josh Bailey agreed to a six-year, $30 million deal Friday to stay with the New York Islanders instead of testing free agency this summer. The 28-year-old forward, selected to his first All-Star appearance last month, has 15 goals and 47 assists this season - already setting career highs for assists and points (62). There was a lot of action last night and some big performances to cover below, but with the trade deadline just around the corner, there was also another trade of note that happened Thursday evening. The New York Rangers dealt Michael Grabner, who was listed as a healthy scratch prior to the game as a precaution given how close the Rangers were to settling this trade, to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 2018 second-round pick and defensive prospect Yegor Rykov. If your initial thought upon hearing that was, ‘wow, I wonder when was the last time the Devils and Rangers agreed to a trade,’ then the answer is: Never. The two bitter rivals have never traded with each other since the Colorado Rockies became the New Jersey Devils in 1982. It’s weird to see happen now, but it highlights the Rangers desire to get the best possible return during their time as sellers, no matter who that highest bidder might be. Continue to Article

The New York Rangers traded Michael Grabner to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night in exchange for 20-year-old defensive prospect Igor Rykov and a second-round draft pick. The deal is the first ever between the Rangers and Devils. Grabner, who led the team with 25 goals this season to go along with six assists, was held out of the Rangers' 3-1 loss Thursday against the Canadiens in Montreal. Continue to Article
