With his team getting nearly doubled up on shots, Ben Bishop stopped nearly every one that came his way. Bishop stopped 27 shots and the Dallas Stars held on to beat St. Louis 2-1 on Friday night, moving past the Blues into third place in the Central Division. On the power play, Hanzal skated across the goalmouth and tipped in Julius Honka's shot from the right point to break a 1-all tie 4:05 into the third period. Continue to Article

The clubs went into the night's action holding the Western Conference's two wild-card spots, and early indications were it would be a close, tight-checking affair, but the Stars blew the game wide open with a four-goal outburst in the second period to the delight of the home crowd. Mattias Janmark opened the scoring with a power-play goal, deflecting John Klingberg's point shot past Wild goalie Alex Stalock while he and Brett Ritchie were setting screens. Continue to Article

Dallas Stars
Not long before the Arizona Coyotes took on (and eventually lost to) the Dallas Stars on Thursday, some eyebrows were raised that Antti Raanta went from starter to backup. Some speculated that it was a decision made for disciplinary reasons. Neither of those assumptions were true, although Raanta dealt with personal circumstances: the team announced that he was involved in a “rear-end collision” driving to the game, which the Stars won 4-1.
