Dion Phaneuf had a lot to do Wednesday. What Phaneuf didn't have to do was scramble to make travel plans or do much scouting work on the Pittsburgh Penguins in advance of the Kings' game Thursday at PPG Paints Arena. After all, he just faced the Penguins Tuesday. Continue to Article

On the ice and on the scoreboard it was just another night at the office for the 2017-18 Ottawa Senators as they were on the wrong end of a 6-3 decision in Pittsburgh. From an Ottawa perspective a lot of it was about moving salary, while also signaling the beginning of what will likely be a pre-deadline firesale in the middle of what has been a bitterly disappointing season that comes on the heels of last year’s shocking run to the Eastern Conference Final. It was a big night for two of the youngest Pittsburgh Penguins. The same can be said for a longtime NHL veteran, now formerly with the Ottawa Senators. Jake Guentzel scored twice, Zach Aston-Reese scored his first two NHL goals and the Penguins picked up a 6-3 victory over the Senators, who also traded veteran defenseman Dion Phaneuf to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night. Sidney Crosby regained his scoring touch on Sunday, netting the 400th goal of his brilliant career as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-1. Crosby hit the milestone in the second period and then added his 401st into an empty net with 2:48 remaining to seal the win for Pittsburgh who have won 12 of their last 17 NHL games. Crosby, who has 19 goals on the season, said it was a relief to break out of the scoring slump. Continue to Article
