The Washington Capitals signed center Lars Eller to a five-year, $17.5 million contract extension, the team announced Saturday. Eller, 28, has registered 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 53 games this season, which ranks sixth on the Capitals. The Capitals acquired Eller from Montreal on June 24, 2016. Continue to Article

The Penguins entered 2018 with a 19-18-3 record, but since then their core forward trio of Phil Kessel, Evgeni Malkin, and Sidney Crosby have taken charge.  That was the case again last night as Pittsburgh earned a 7-4 victory over the rival Washington Capitals, led in large part by those three. Malkin was the biggest factor of the three with his four points, including two goals.  He’s recorded 10 points in his last three games alone.  Meanwhile, Crosby is on an 11-game point streak after chipping in two helpers Friday night.  Kessel scored two goals and registered an assist, bringing him up to eight points in his last four games.
