Not long ago, PHT passed along word that the New York Rangers have reportedly asked Rick Nash to hand over his no-trade lists. Jaroslav Halak came up big in the first period, keeping the New York Islanders close until they rallied in the third period for a needed win. Halak made 25 of his 46 saves in the opening period, then saw Jordan Eberle and Brock Nelson score in the third to help the Islanders beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 Saturday night. The Penguins entered 2018 with a 19-18-3 record, but since then their core forward trio of Phil Kessel, Evgeni Malkin, and Sidney Crosby have taken charge. That was the case again last night as Pittsburgh earned a 7-4 victory over the rival Washington Capitals, led in large part by those three. Malkin was the biggest factor of the three with his four points, including two goals. He’s recorded 10 points in his last three games alone. Meanwhile, Crosby is on an 11-game point streak after chipping in two helpers Friday night. Kessel scored two goals and registered an assist, bringing him up to eight points in his last four games. Kevin Labanc scored the go-ahead goal that ended up being the game-winner and added an assist to pace the San Jose Sharks to a 3-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. Labanc, given a promotion in ice time with Joe Thornton sidelined due to a knee injury, broke a 1-1 deadlock midway through the affair when he one-timed a shot from the slot on a 5-on-3 power play.
