The player that is driving the bus for the Blues to this point, however, has been forward Jaden Schwartz. As of Friday Schwartz was not only the leading scorer on the Blues with eight goals and 17 points, he is also one of the top scorers in the league. Part of Schwartz’s success this season is due to a pretty large jump in his shooting percentage (currently at 25 percent), but even if that regresses a bit the way he is playing is still going to produce some pretty strong results that are, at worst, right in line with what he has done throughout his career. Patrick Marleau woke up in his own home in San Jose and drove to the rink to prepare for a hockey game just as he has done countless times during his stellar career. When he arrived for the Toronto Maple Leafs' morning skate, he turned right to head to the visitors' dressing room rather than his customary left turn to go to the Sharks' room. The Sharks played a video tribute to Marleau and he received a loud ovation that lasted nearly 90 seconds from the fans, who chanted "Pat-ty! Pat-ty!" Players from both teams tapped their sticks in appreciation as the spotlight shined on Marleau and he waved to the crowd. Continue to Article

Rookie defenseman Tim Heed stole the show from Patrick Marleau in his return to San Jose. Heed scored a tiebreaking goal on the power play early in the third period and assisted on Joe Pavelski's second-period goal to lead the Sharks to a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night in Marleau's first game as a visitor in San Jose. Whatever label you want to attach to it, the Flyers proved yet again Saturday night that disappointments don't seem to fester with this club, as they turned in a complete 60-minute effort, beating the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-2, at Air Canada Center (see observations). It also helped the Flyers didn't spot their opponent a 3-0 lead like they had in their previous two road games, in Nashville and against just two days ago in Ottawa, where they felt robbed of a game-tying goal in the final minute of a 5-4 loss. Valtteri Filppula and Claude Giroux gave the Flyers an edge in the second period, and Brian Elliott held it. Filppula and Giroux scored, Elliott had 28 saves and Philadelphia beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 on Saturday night.
