Minnesota Wild
As Mike Russo of the Athletic reported on Monday, Zach Parise of the Minnesota Wild underwent microdiscectomy surgery and is expected to miss the next 8-10 weeks. A herniated disc forced him to miss the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs and then the issue returned just before training camp in September. After starting his career with great health in seven of his first NHL seasons, the injury bug has bit Parise since the 2013-14 campaign. Continue to Article

Minnesota Wild
Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise will be out for the next 8-10 weeks after undergoing successful back surgery Tuesday, the team announced. That timetable puts his potential return somewhere around mid-to-late December at the earliest. Parise’s back has been a source of ongoing issues since he first suffered an injury to the area in January 2016. He missed the 2016 playoffs, played through a herniated disk for all of last season, and hasn’t appeared yet on the ice this season. Parise missed the beginning of training camp with a back injury, but had started to skate with the team before suffering a setback and leaving the ice during a session last week. Continue to Article

There was a scare involving star forward Alex Ovechkin during Washington Capitals practice on Monday. Per reports, Ovechkin limped off the ice after getting tangled up with a teammate during drills. Capitals head coach Barry Trotz seemed to quell that a little bit afterward. Continue to Article

The seemingly ageless Jaromir Jagr has been placed on injured reserve, after he left Saturday’s game versus the Minnesota Wild with what the club called a lower-body injury. After going the entire summer without inking a contract before eventually signing a one-year, $2 million deal with the Flames earlier this month, the 45-year-old Jagr has appeared in five games with Calgary, and had points in back-to-back games before the injury occurred in the first period versus the Wild. In a corresponding transaction, the Flames have recalled 23-year-old center Mark Jankowski from the American Hockey League. Continue to Article
