Los Angeles Dodgers
In a couple of months, Clayton Kershaw might need to make some room at home for a fourth NL Cy Young Award. Kershaw became the first 18-game winner in the majors, pitching eight stingy innings to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers over the San Francisco Giants 3-1 on Sunday. Yasmani Grandal homered and drove in all three runs for the NL West champions. Continue to Article

Los Angeles Dodgers
LOS ANGELES — With two outs in the eighth inning on Sunday afternoon, Gorkys Hernandez took a swing and accidentally flung his bat right back to the mound. The fans booed as Clayton Kershaw, who had jumped out of the way, retrieved it.  Look, nothing else has worked against this guy.  This method didn’t, either. Hernandez struck out, giving Kershaw 200 on the year. He was his usual self, scattering eight Giants hits in eight innings and allowing just one run on a Mac Williamson dinger. LOS ANGELES — You would expect Madison Bumgarner to come into Dodger Stadium in September and twirl a gem, but his sidekick in a 2-1 win over the Dodgers was a bit of a surprise.  Gorkys Hernandez had two doubles and a single while leading off, scoring both runs in support of his lefty ace. Bumgarner cruised through seven, allowing just three hits on 83 pitches while striking out five. Austin Barnes ambushed him while leading off the eighth, cutting the deficit in half. Cody Bellinger came a few feet away from a go-ahead homer, but his drive died at the track in right. Bumgarner gave way to Hunter Strickland, who also watched a deep fly ball come just short of giving the Dodgers the lead.  The Continue to Article

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers gave Tommy Lasorda the ultimate birthday present on Friday. The festive evening which began with the team celebrating the legendary manager’s 90th birthday, ended with the Dodgers celebrating their fifth consecutive NL West championship. Then, after the Dodgers wrapped up a 4-2 win against the San Francisco Giants, Lasorda put on some goggles and took in the clubhouse celebration. Continue to Article

Los Angeles Dodgers
There was a celebration in the Dodgers clubhouse Friday night, but it was a bit more subdued than perhaps in the last four seasons when L.A. also clinched NL West titles, the Los Angeles Times noted. The reasons: First, including their division-clinching 4-2 win over the Giants on Friday night, the Dodgers have won only seven times in their last 27 games. Despite four straight postseason appearances, L.A. hasn't reached the World Series. Continue to Article
