MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said the league would "redouble" efforts to add safety netting at stadiums for the 2018 season. Safety netting has been a hot topic around baseball following the scary incident at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, when a two-year-old girl sitting behind the third-base dugout was struck in the face by a foul ball. This has been one amazing run for Francisco Lindor and the Cleveland Indians. Lindor snapped a seventh-inning tie with a two-run homer and the remarkable Indians held off the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 on Wednesday night for their 26th victory in 27 games. Los Angeles Angels fans thought they were experiencing a moment to remember during Tuesday night's game against the Cleveland Indians, but sometimes a home run is just a home run. The Angels trailed 6-2 when Justin Upton came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning. The newly acquired left fielder wasted no time and cut into Cleveland's lead as he drilled a fastball to deep center field for his fourth home run since joining the team on August 31. Of the cool things that have happened this season with the AL Central-winning Cleveland Indians, this might rank just slightly behind winning 22 straight games. Pitchers Trevor Bauer and Carlos Carrasco have spent the last few months of the season making the Indians’ “Mini Team” — baseball art that they say are basically caricatures of their teammates.
