Los Angeles Dodgers
Three things they teach you in Little League: Ready position, keep your eye on the ball and catch it with your jersey. OK, so maybe no Little League coach ever said that last one, but Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Nick Pivetta did it anyways Monday night. Pivetta was facing the Los Angeles Dodgers — specifically catcher Austin Barnes — and when Barnes ripped a comebacker right at Pivetta, the pitcher pulled off the type of catch you don’t often see. Los Angeles Dodgers
Nick Pivetta carried a 6.75 ERA into his start  that's the fifth-highest ever by a Phillies pitcher in a season in which he'd pitched at least 110 innings  and he was facing one of the best pitchers in the game in Los Angeles Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night. Kershaw, a three-time National League Cy Young award winner, entered with the best ERA in the majors  2.12  and he'd allowed just one run in 31 innings in his previous four starts against the Phillies. What's more, five players in the Phillies' lineup had never faced Kershaw, and usually, the advantage goes to the pitcher in those situations. Continue to Article

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Through 10 seasons, 287 starts and more than 1,900 innings, Clayton Kershaw had never given up a grand slam. Until Monday night.Aaron Altherr hit his second career grand slam, a 418-foot blast to left off Kershaw in the sixth, to lead Continue to Article

Los Angeles Dodgers
Chris Taylor is having himself a hell of a season with the Los Angeles Dodgers this year. Tonight (Monday), he led off against the Phillies in a pretty dramatic fashion: Taylor destroyed the second pitch of the game, sending it off the top of the centerfield wall and out of reach of the outfielders. CT was on top of it from the get-go, hauling around the bases in under 16 seconds. For the season, Taylor is batting .290 (good for 22nd in the National League) and has 138 hits and 67 RBI. The Dodgers have clinched a spot in the playoffs, and hold a 9.5 game lead over the NL West second place team (the Arizona Diamondbacks). Nothing Chris Taylor will do in his MLB career will be as exciting as this Continue to Article

Los Angeles Dodgers
WASHINGTON, D.C.: Saturday afternoon’s 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers was the Washington Nationals’ fourth in their last five games since they clinched the NL East crown this past Sunday night. In spite of the results over that stretch, Nats’ skipper Dusty Baker said he wasn’t overly concerned. “I don’t like to lose ever,” Baker told reporters after the Nationals dropped their second straight to the Dodgers. “You’re not trying to lose,” he said, “sometimes they beat you. The Braves beat us up pretty good, and [the Dodgers] beat us up pretty good here last night. “If anybody was worried, it was the Dodgers, they lost [16] out of [17], and they’ve come back and won [four] in a row. “And I Continue to Article
