For the second year in a row, the Cleveland Indians are AL Central champions. They clinched their title on Saturday night when second-place Minnesota lost to Toronto. Earlier, the Indians bounced back after having their league record winning streak ended at 22 games by beating the Kansas City Royals 8-4. A division crown is the first step for the Indians, whose only goal is winning the World Series after coming so close last year. From the moment they lost to the Chicago Cubs in seven games, the Indians have been focused on getting back, and a division crown is a first step. Cleveland hasn't won a Series title since 1948, baseball's longest drought. This is the first time the Indians have won Continue to Article

Why doesn't Albert Almora Jr. play more? It's a common refrain from Cubs fans lately, especially with the 23-year-old outfielder in a middle of a hot stretch that saw him collect eight RBI in three at-bats this week. Almora came in as a reserve in all three games against the New York Mets earlier in the homestand and went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, a homer, eight RBI and three runs.  Joe Maddon wrote Almora's name in Saturday's lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals, just his fourth start out of 15 games in September. He immediately made an impact, driving home the Cubs' first run in the fourth inning and igniting a two-run rally. He came through again in the fifth with a two-out RBI double Continue to Article

For the first time since August 23, the Cleveland Indians lost a Major League Baseball game on Friday, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Kansas City Royals. The loss snapped the Indians’ American League record 22-game winning streak, the second longest streak in Major League history. After rallying when down to their final strike on Thursday night, the Tribe’s magic finally ran out as Mike Minor retired Francisco Lindor to end the ballgame. Continue to Article

Willson Contreras slammed his catcher's mask. The rest of the Chicago Cubs kept their cool. Kris Bryant had three hits, including his 27th homer, and Chicago overcame the ejections of Lackey and Contreras on the way to an 8-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Continue to Article

One night after securing the longest winning run in Major League Baseball (MLB) in more than a century, the Indians finally ran out of steam in front of a sellout home crowd in Cleveland. Only the 1916 New York Giants (26) had a longer run of success though their remarkable stretch, which is recognized by the MLB as the longest in major league history, included a tie. Despite falling short of the all-time record, the streak vaulted the Indians to the best record in the American League, 91-57. Continue to Article
