Atlanta Braves
In the five weeks since his Mets debut, Dominic Smith hasn't put up dominant numbers in any category, leading some to express concerns that he wasn't ready for the majors. But he is already beginning to adjust, and his .879 OPS in September shows the potential he brings. Possibly as a function of his relative youth at each level, Smith has a history of adjusting slowly to his promotions. As a 20-year-old in High-A, he mustered just a .220 average with one extra base hit in the month of April. From May onwards, he hit .314 and finished the year with 33 doubles. Likewise, the following year in Double-A, he put up mediocre numbers well into May, before catching fire and batting .323/.397/.495 from Continue to Article

The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their winning run as the Cleveland Indians' streak came to an end in MLB. Since the Indians began their record-setting 22-game streak on August 24, the best team in the National League (NL) began a puzzling swoon.  The Continue to Article

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Dusty Baker gave Victor Robles his second start in the majors on Thursday night and got a 2 for 4 game out of the 20-year-old outfielder, who scored two runs in what ended up a 5-2 win over the Atlanta Braves. The two-hit night left Washington’s top prospect 3 for 9 through five games since he was called up to make his MLB debut. Baker told reporters he’s been impressed with what he’s seen from Robles so far even if it’s just been a handful of at bats. “You’ve got to like what you see,” he said “and you see why everybody wanted to trade for him, and you see why we didn’t give him up and include him in any of those trades.” “He could be an impact player,” Baker added. “You like Continue to Article

New York Mets
The Mets will tender a contract this winter to Matt Harvey, who is eligible for arbitration a final time before becoming a free agent after next season. "No way," a team official told Newsday's Marc Carig, when asked if Harvey could be non-tendered. Harvey was charged with five runs in just 3 1/3 innings during a loss Wednesday to the Cubs, after which he appeared distraught and bewildered by his performance. "It's kind of hard to take any positives out of the last two years," Harvey said after the game. "It's extremely frustrating. ... That's really all you can say about tonight." The next day, Terry Collins told reporters he respects the passion coming from Harvey, who threw 86 pitches and Continue to Article
