The Oakland Coliseum won’t be the home of the Oakland Athletics forever. It feels like the Oakland Athletics and their fans have been waiting at least a millennia for a new stadium to be built. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland Athletics have settled on a location for their proposed new ballpark: the site near Laney College on a piece of land owned by Peralta Community College. The Laney College area is close to downtown Oakland between Interstate 880 and Lake Merritt and is near a BART station. It was preferred by the club over the Oakland Coliseum site and land on the waterfront northwest of Jack London Square, the latter of which had traffic and accessibility concerns. Continue to Article

David Ortiz will be rejoining the Red Sox after retiring following the 2016 season, it just won't be as a member of the 25-man roster. Ortiz will be returning to Boston in a front-office role similar to that of former Red Sox stars Pedro Martinez and Jason Varitek.
