Chris Carelli, SNY.TV Facebook | Twitter | About Me | Archives Some believe that Yankees manager Joe Girardi's strength lay with his manipulation of the bullpen. Others contend that Girardi doesn't have a clue when it comes to reading the tea leaves, rather relying too strictly to analytics. At this moment, I'm sitting on the fence, but surprisingly leaning in favor of Girardi's current seemingly-manic decisions. As a playoff berth continues to look like a strong possibility for the Yankees, Girardi is managing his bullpen with what feels like reckless abandon one day and fierce competitiveness the next. This isn't exactly surprising to me, as Girardi's use of the bullpen this season has been Continue to Article

On Monday night the Indians start a series against the Tigers at Cleveland's Progressive Field having won 18 consecutive games. It’s now the second-longest winning streak of the Expansion Era (post-1960), and it's tied for the fourth-longest in the majors since 1900. Continue to Article

The 25-year-old Judge homered twice Sunday in New York's series-clinching 16-7 win at Texas, becoming only the second major league rookie with a 40-homer season. Gary Sanchez also hit two homers for the AL wild card-leading Yankees, giving him 30 this season and 50 in 161 games since his 2015 debut. "It's incredible what they've both done," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. Continue to Article

Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez each hit two home runs on Sunday while Didi Gregorius went 4-for-4 with four RBIs as the New York Yankees beat the Texas Rangers 16-7 on Sunday at Globe Life Park in Arlington.  Box score Judge became the second rookie in MLB history to hit 40 home runs in a season by hitting his first home run as part of New York's six-run fourth inning that gave the Yankees a 9-1 lead. He hit his 41st home run of the season two innings later. Sanchez homered in the first and eighth innings, going 3-for-4 with four runs scored. Since returning from his three-game suspension, he is 6-for-12 with four RBIs. Gregorius hit an RBI double in the third inning that gave the Yankees a 2-1 Continue to Article

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge hit two home runs on Sunday, and in doing so joined some select company. His first home run made Judge just the second major league rookie ever to hit 40 home runs. Judge has struggled mightily in the second half, hitting just .182/.346/.365 in 52 games since the All-Star break entering Sunday. But he had a breakout game against the Texas Rangers in Arlington, with a solo home run against Nick Martinez in the fourth inning, then another solo shot against Yohander Mendez in the sixth. Mark McGwire is the only rookie to hit more home runs in a season than Judge, mashing 49 home runs in 1987 for the Oakland Athletics. Out in Los Angeles, Dodgers rookie Cody Continue to Article
