Washington Nationals
Few teams in Major League Baseball have been a snake-bitten this season as the Nationals. Stars such as Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Adam Eaton, Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Jayson Werth have either spent time, or are currently on the disabled list. Nationals fans received a some good news Monday when Werth and Scherzer were activated from the DL ahead of Monday night's game against the surging Marlins. Continue to Article

With Players Weekend going on around the MLB, players are wearing special alternate jerseys that feature their nicknames on the back. Even though Nationals’ outfielder Bryce Harper is sidelined due to injury, he is still in the spirit as he released his Players Weekend bat and cleats on Twitter. The first cleats he showed off were the Eye of the Tiger cleats, which are my favorite out of all the three. Harper followed with his Tie Dye, and the Emoji bats and cleats. The Emoji cleats featured some of Harper’s favorite emoji. Harper’s gear is clearly on the colorful side, but that should be expected. I just wish his customized gear was available for purchase. Jayson Werth has been on the Disabled List since June 3rd, when he fouled a fastball off his left foot and suffered a fracture and deep bone bruise. Trea Turner landed on the DL on June 29th when a fastball hit his left wrist and fractured it. According to reports out of San Diego on Sunday, both Werth and Turner, who have been working out at the Washington Nationals’ facilities in West Palm Beach, are on the way to Triple-A, where they’ll begin their respective rehab assignments Monday. Werth, 38, put up a .262/.367/.446 line with five doubles and eight home runs in 196 plate appearances before his injury. Turner, 24, started slow, but by the time he was injured, had a .279/.324/.422 line with Continue to Article

Brian Goodwin was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left groin strain, joining a long list of Washington Nationals outfielders currently sidelined with injuries. Goodwin was placed on the DL retroactive to Aug. 14. He joins Bryce Harper (hyperextended knee),  Ryan Raburn (trapezius strain), Jayson Werth (foot contusion) and Adam Eaton (torn ACL). Eaton said Wednesday he has not ruled out the possibility of returning this season from his April injury, and has been running and swinging a bat for the past couple weeks. "I'm going to give myself the best chance whatever I can as humanly possibly for my knee," Eaton said. "I have to listen to my knee at the end of the day, my knee is going Continue to Article

Dusty Baker talked after Michael A. Taylor returned from the Disabled List this past weekend about getting some of his injured players back in time for the stretch run. “We got Michael back today,” Baker said, “and hopefully nothing else happens and then we expect and hope to get [Jayson] Werth and [Trea] Turner back in a couple weeks, we’re unsure about Koda Glover, and so he’s progressing, so it will be like getting a whole new fresh team down the stretch if things go right. “That’s why I just believe in the bottom of my heart that some of this is already written, that some of these guys are going to show up like the cavalry, right on time, and be fresh down the stretch drive and be a lot fresher Continue to Article
