OAKLAND — The offbeat, colorful uniforms worn by the A’s gave a different feel to Friday night’s game. Khris Davis’ home run stroke? That’s identifiable no matter what the slugger is wearing. The A’s mustered just four hits against Texas. Luckily for them, two of those were homers off the bat of their left fielder. Khris Davis sees no need to talk up his home run-hitting power from the past two seasons, even after he had a career-high 42 last season and brought his 2017 total to 36 with two more Friday night. Davis, wearing ''Khrush'' on his jersey for Players Weekend, hit a go-ahead homer leading off the seventh after his tying solo shot in the fourth to power the Oakland Athletics past the Texas Rangers 3-1 on Friday night. The Texas Rangers and Globe Life announced that the Rangers new ballpark, which will open in 2020, will carry the same name as their current ballpark: Globe Life Field. The naming rights deal has been extended through 2048 and will bring the Rangers $11 million a year. It seems more likely that naming rights deals render corporate names somewhat generic, diluting it in the public’s mind as it becomes the name of a building and not a company that sells stuff. Boog Powell, meet Boog Powell. The name's the same, and they're both known for playing baseball. It's a bit early, however, to start comparing their home run swings. Former Baltimore slugger Boog Powell met with Oakland Athletics leadoff hitter Boog Powell at the popular "Boog's BBQ" stand beyond the right-field wall at Camden Yards before the O's hosted the A's on Tuesday night.
