Chicago Cubs
Look out, Kris Bryant: Anthony Rizzo might be coming for you. After Bryant suffered a left hand contusion in the top of the eighth inning during Tuesday's 13-9 win over Cincinnati, Joe Maddon shuffled his infield by moving Rizzo from first to third base for the first time in his career to replace the reigning NL MVP and it didn't take long for the Cubs to take advantage of the rare occurence on social media: Pretty amazing that in one season he's been dubbed the greatest leadoff hitter of all-time and best third baseman ever. Here's another cool fact: Earlier this season, Rizzo became second-base eligible in ESPN and CBS Sports fantasy leagues because of a weird rule that allows him to switch Continue to Article

Chicago Cubs
Joe Maddon has never been afraid of the unconventional, and his latest step outside the box resulted in something Cubs fans hadn't seen in 131 years. After Kris Bryant got hit in the hand by a pitch in the ninth inning Tuesday night, Maddon moved Anthony Rizzo from first base to third, making him the first left-handed thrower to play there for the Cubs since Jimmy Ryan in 1886. The last lefty thrower to play third in the majors was Mario Valdez of the White Sox July 2, 1997. Continue to Article

Cincinnati Reds
With the Cubs comfortably ahead, Joe Maddon added to his lore as a manager who's not afraid to go against tradition and have some fun, too. Maddon had left-handed Anthony Rizzo play third base in the ninth inning - filling in while Kris Bryant went for precautionary X-rays on his hand - as Chicago finished off a 13-9 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. ''Looking at it, the only thing left was (catcher Alex) Avila at third, which is no fun, or Rizzo at third and Avila at first, which is fun, and that's why we did it,'' Maddon said. Chicago Cubs
When all else fails, know that Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon will always choose fun. Usual third baseman Kris Bryant left Chicago’s game with Cincinnati Reds in the top of ninth inning when he was hit in the wrist by a pitch. Continue to Article

Chicago Cubs
Cubs star Kris Bryant exited after being hit in the left hand by a pitch, and lefty Anthony Rizzo wound up playing third base as Chicago beat the Cincinnati Reds 13-9 Tuesday night for their seventh win in nine games. The defending World Series champions moved a season-high 10 games over .500. This victory came with a late offensive surge, with the Cubs scoring nine runs in the last three innings. Bryant was taken out as a precaution after being plunked in the ninth. Minus the NL MVP and ahead 13-6, manager Joe Maddon shifted Rizzo across the diamond from first base to make his first career appearance at third — a rare spot for a left-hander. Rizzo didn't get any plays at the new position. The Continue to Article
