The Los Angeles Angels have done a wonderful job of turning around a season that just two weeks ago seemed unsalvageable. Pinch-hitter Cameron Maybin singled in the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning, Kole Calhoun and Andrelton Simmons homered and Los Angeles beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-4 Sunday. The Angels have won nine of 11 to gain a tie for the second AL wild card slot and move four games over .500 (64-60) for the first time since April 11. Continue to Article

Following Friday’s exciting walkoff win over the Angels, a reporter asked Buck Showalter one of the standard boring reporter questions along the lines of, “How big was this win?” Buck replied that it was nice enough, but they’ve got to win tomorrow and the next day and the next day and so on. As Earl Weaver would say, momentum is your next day’s starting pitcher. And it really won’t mean a whole lot that the Orioles won in such a nice way last night if they don’t win either tonight or tomorrow as well. Preferably, both! But it’s one game at a time, and for tonight they should only worry about tonight. It’ll be Kevin Gausman on the mound for the Orioles. He’s been good in the second half. If that Continue to Article

It is Friday night. The Orioles have finally - finally! - again won a game on a Friday night. Do you remember what must be done? No, I didn’t need to ask. YOU KNOW WHAT MUST BE DONE. Continue to Article

Cody Sedlock certainly hasn’t had the ideal first full season in the Orioles system, but there’s still reason to believe the 2016 first-round draft pick is on his way to bigger and better things. Even hindered with an arm injury that caused him to miss some crucial development time this season, he appears primed to take a major step forward throughout the end of 2017 and into the offseason. Sedlock made his starts over the course of the first three months of the year, but the numbers didn’t add up to the expectations for the former Illinois standout, especially after the stats he posted at Aberdeen in 27 innings last year. Now coming off of a stint on the disabled list and settling back into Continue to Article

MLB.com (17th; LW: 14th) Alyson Footer at MLB.com drops the Orioles to 17th after a week in the top half of the league. Bleacher Report Power Rankings (15th; LW: 14th) Joel Reuter drops the O’s just one slot. He grades on more of a curve than I do. CBS Sports (18th; LW: 15th) Matt Synder lowers the Orioles three slots. “The offense is humming like many thought it would all year, hitting more than 100 OPS points higher since the All-Star break. (OK, so I typed that before the Tuesday night game started, so it was apparently a jinx. My bad, O's fans).” reddit’s Power Poll (XXth; LW:17th) The community editors over at reddit drop the O’s three slots. “I feel like I can keep reusing comments from Continue to Article
