A player the Baltimore Orioles had no plans for, going to the Los Angeles Angels as maybe some emergency rotation filler. Only right-hander Parker Bridwell has proven to be much more than that and Tuesday night, the Orioles got to witness the newfound success of the pitcher they simply sold to the Angels back in mid-April. Bridwell threw seven strong innings, leading the Angels to a 3-2 victory over the Orioles to snap a Baltimore three-game winning streak. Continue to Article

Baylor, who played 19 seasons in his major league career and was the 1979 American League MVP, died at a hospital in his native Austin, Texas, after a 14-year struggle with multiple myeloma. Baylor played for the Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, California Angels, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. Continue to Article

Don Baylor, the first man to ever manage the upstart Colorado Rockies, and a former AL MVP and World Series winner, died early Monday morning at 68. Baylor was a native of Austin, Texas, and broke barriers as a high school athlete. After he graduated, he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1967, which started Baylor’s long career in baseball. If everything was going perfectly for the Orioles, all of their players would play well and play for as many seasons as the Orioles want them to. Unfortunately, things aren’t quite that easy, which has put the O’s in a tough place with a couple of long-time Orioles: Chris Tillman and the still-injured J.J. Hardy. Chris Tillman With Tillman, the Orioles have already done what they were avoiding for months. He was officially in the bullpen on Sunday afternoon, and it seems like there he will remain, though he has never pitched in relief at the MLB level and only has six relief outings in the entirety of his professional career, dating back to 2006.
