The Texas Rangers didn’t want to part with Yu Darvish. Baseball business dictated they should, however, so in the final moments before Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline general manager Jon Daniels pulled the trigger on a blockbuster deal, sending the impending free agent to the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the days since, the respect between Darvish and the franchise that brought him to the United States has been apparent. Continue to Article

Things you should know about today's game... 1) Blanked through five innings, the Dodgers homered four times in their next three turns at bat and five times overall. Chris Taylor and Yasiel Puig hit solo homers for the second straight game. Justin Turner also hit a solo homer and Cody Bellinger launched a two-run shot, his 31st of the season that tied the game, 3-3, in the sixth.  2) Seth Lugo held the Dodgers hitless through 4 2/3 innings but collapsed in the sixth. The departures of Addison Reed and Lucas Duda, and the arrival of Amed Rosario, signaled the end of the 2017 Mets. The team is now playing for next year -- preparing for a significant team turnover and hopefully beginning to answer some important questions.  What will the infield look like in 2018? Part of that has been settled. Rosario is, deservedly, beginning his tenure as the Mets' starting shortstop, and Dominic Smith's inauguration as first baseman is only a matter of time. Duda's trade indicated that any doubt as to Smith's readiness is gone and even slow starts to their respective MLB careers will not take him or Rosario out of the 2018 Opening Day lineup. New York Mets
Mets rookie shortstop Amed Rosario went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts Friday in his home debut. In his first at bat, Rosario, 21, struck out on a 96 mph fastball from Yu Darvish , who was making his first start for the Dodgers since being acquired from the Rangers. In his second at bat against Darvish, Rosario hit a hard single through the left side of the infield. He also recorded his first career stolen base. Rosario had 19 steals with Las Vegas this season, and his speed so far has been impressive. "This kid is very bright. He's very sharp," Terry Collins said about Rosario. "And he's got good leadership, talking to Jose [Reyes], [Asdrubal] Cabrera and those guys. They'll help him along the Continue to Article
