In a season all but lost, home runs sailed over the fence, the lead held up and they added on with key hits to support Jeff Samardzija. Hunter Pence hit a three-run homer and Nick Hundley contributed a two-run shot to back Samardzija's stellar start, and San Francisco beat the Oakland Athletics 10-4 on Tuesday night to snap a four-game losing streak. After adding three relievers in two weeks, the Washington Nationals still aren't sure who's going to be their closer. The NL East leaders added another Monday by barely beating the trade deadline to acquire Minnesota Twins All-Star right-hander Brandon Kintzler, who is 28 of 32 in save opportunities this year.
