OAKLAND — Even when buried in the American League West standings, the A’s remain one of the majors’ most intriguing stories this time of year. Multiple reports surfaced Saturday that the Yankees had emerged as the front runners to acquire Oakland starter Sonny Gray, with the New York Post suggesting a deal could materialize by Sunday. That doesn’t mean the A’s aren’t talking to other clubs about the prized right-hander, who is resembling his All-Star form of 2015 and comes with two years of team control beyond this year, making him the most talked-about trade chip in the majors as Monday’s 1 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline draws near. But the Yankees clearly are the front-runners. Before Saturday Continue to Article

The jersey worn by New York Yankees outfielder? Aaron Judge in his Major League Baseball debut in August sold for $157,366 on Sunday. The winning bid in the auction, held by Steiner Sports, represents the highest price paid for any jersey worn in the four major U.S. sports in the past 15 years. It topped the $135,060 paid last month for the jersey Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry wore in Game 3 of the 2017 NBA Finals. The sale price on the Judge jersey is a huge jump from the price paid for a game-used jersey Steiner sold just last month. The jersey Judge wore May 28, when he hit his first career grand slam, sold for $45,578. Since then, Judge's rise -- which included winning the Home Continue to Article

Aaron Judge is all done with the tooth scary — at least for now. The New York Yankees slugger was back in the starting lineup Friday night, a day after he accidentally lost half of his front left tooth during a home-plate celebration . "I'm all good," he said. "Got it fixed." The AL home run leader saw a dentist earlier in the day and got a temporary replacement. Later, he'll go back for a permanent piece. On Thursday night, Judge was jarred when Brett Gardner's batting helmet accidentally popped him in the mouth. Gardner hit a winning home run in the bottom of the 11th inning and tossed his helmet as he approached the plate. Judge picked up the helmet because he was worried someone might step Continue to Article

The Athletics have requested one of Gleyber Torres or Clint Frazier from the Yankees as part of a potential deal for Sonny Gray, reports Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, who says a deal is not close. The Yankees may be willing to include IF/OF prospect Jorge Mateo in a deal with the A's, but a source told MLB.com that Torres, Justus Sheffield, and Frazier are untouchable. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are "increasingly confident" they will acquire A's RHP Sonny Gray, Rangers RHP Yu Darvish, or Tigers RHP Justin Verlander before Monday's non-waiver trade deadline, reports Jon Morosi of Fox Sports. On Tuesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reported the Yankees were moving closer to striking a deal for Gray and Continue to Article
