ST. LOUIS - Cardinals Hall of Famer Lou Brock announced he is cancer-free after a diagnosis earlier this year left him with a form of blood cancer. Prior to the start of play against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday evening, the former left-fielder released a statement declaring the news: "I would like to thank my family, friends and fans for all their prayers and support during the battle. With the power of Almighty God all things are possible!” Brock was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in April.  Multiple myeloma is a cancer formed by malignant plasma cells, and can affect blood levels, cause bone and calcium problems and affect the immune system, according to the American Cancer Center. “Once Continue to Article

The Dodgers, who are on pace to win 100 games, have the best odds at 11/4. Continue to Article

St. Louis Cardinals
For about three hours a day, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jose Martinez gets a break. The rest of the time, his mind is 2,100 miles away at his native Venezuela, where political unrest has become a way of life. ''I'm trying to give my son a better life, leave a better country, not worry if something happens to him like get kidnapped or something,'' Martinez said Thursday, the same day the United States ordered relatives of American diplomats to leave Caracas, Venezuela.
