Pittsburgh Pirates
SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner saw no reason to make a big deal over his first win of the year, even if it came far deeper into the season than anyone expected. In a season that long ago spun out of control for both San Francisco and its ace, Bumgarner was happier seeing the struggling Giants have one of their best games of the year. Bumgarner allowed one run over five innings for his first win of the season, and the Giants beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-3 on Tuesday night. "It was nice to be on the board now individually," Bumgarner said. "But that's not what it's about. It's about us winning games, and we played really good tonight." Eduardo Nunez drove in two runs in his Continue to Article

Pittsburgh Pirates
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Pittsburgh Pirates kept clearing the fences, and the San Francisco Giants were left arguing plate umpire Chris Conroy's tough strike zone. Even Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle understood the beef. Andrew McCutchen hit a three-run homer and had four RBIs, Gerrit Cole won for the fifth time in six starts, and the Pirates beat San Francisco 10-3 on Monday night. "I think there was some frustration really all night," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who watched most of the game from his office after an ejection in the second. "I don't think he had a real good night, to be honest, as far as consistency, but that really had nothing to do with what happened tonight. We gave up three-run Continue to Article

San Francisco Giants
Tyler Beede was supposed to start Sacramento's matinee tilt on Monday in Tacoma, but he was scratched. But not for the reason Giants fans have been hoping for. The top pitching prospect hasn't been called up. The 24-year-old Beede was scratched after he strained his groin while warming up for the start. Kraig Sitton started in Beede's place. In 19 starts with the River Cats this season, Beede has a 4.79 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 109 innings pitched. Beede, the 2014 1st round pick out of Vanderbilt, entered the season as the No. 89 prospect in all of baseball according to Baseball America, but fell out of the Top 100 in the Midseason update. The publication also had Beede as the Giants' No. 1 prospect Continue to Article

San Francisco Giants
SAN FRANCISCO — Three years after departing for what he thought would be a better fit, Pablo Sandoval has returned.  The third baseman, a key cog in the dynasty the Giants built earlier this decade, re-signed with the organization on a minor league deal on Saturday morning. Sandoval will join Class-A San Jose immediately and move on to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. He was in the AT&T Park clubhouse on Saturday to take a physical.  Sandoval, now 30 years old, spent the first seven years of his career in San Francisco, batting .294 with 106 homers amid battles with his weight and inconsistency. The Giants never quite got on the same page with Sandoval when it came to his conditioning, and he Continue to Article
