New York Mets
With less than a week until the trade deadline, Jay Bruce is still not drawing significant interest from teams looking to acquire an outfielder, a source recently told Newsday's Marc Carig. Bruce, 30, is tied for fourth in the National League with 25 home runs putting him on pace to hit 42 this season, which would be the most of his career. He is due roughly $5 million through the rest of this season, after which he will be a free agent. Bruce has an eight-team no-trade clause, which includes the Rays, Twins and Yankees, a source recently told James Wagner of the New York Times. According to the Daily News, as of July 20, the Mets had not yet talked with him about being traded. In a July 20 report, Continue to Article

The non-waiver trade deadline is exactly one week away. And given the Mets are still plodding along at 45-51 and trail by double digits in the division and wild-card races, it's unquestionable they will be sellers. Who exactly will go? Here's a list of contenders, from most to least likely. Addison Reed The Mets made out like bandits acquiring Reed from the Diamondbacks on Aug. 30, 2015, for Miller Diaz and Matt Koch. We suppose Jerry Blevins and Paul Sewald may be the best candidates. Jay Bruce The Continue to Article

The first sign it was going to be a good night for Jacob deGrom was when he struck out the side in the first inning, all looking, on 10 pitches. The right-hander won his eighth straight start with eight strong innings and the New York Mets held on when pinch-hitter Jabari Blash's bid for a game-winning home run was barely foul, beating the San Diego Padres 5-3 Monday night. The last Mets pitcher to win eight straight starts was Bobby Jones in 1997. Continue to Article

Jacob deGrom won his eighth straight start and the New York Mets held on when pinch-hitter Jabari Blash's bid for a game-winning home run was barely foul, beating the San Diego Padres 5-3 Monday. DeGrom (12-3) gave up two runs in eight innings, striking out eight. The last Mets pitcher to win eight straight starts was Bobby Jones in 1997. Hunter Renfroe homered twice for San Diego, including a leadoff shot in the ninth inning. The Padres then put two runners on base with one out, and Blash sent a long drive that whispered past the foul pole and landed in the right-field seats — it was called foul, a ruling upheld on video replay. Addison Reed, who played at San Diego State, then struck out Blash Continue to Article
