How do you know if a shirt is cool? If Tupac wore it, you’re probably safe. Colorado Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond took that famous mantra to heart by buying his teammates T-shirts based on a Rockies shirt that Tupac apparently once wore. And, yes, it’s fire. Here’s Tupac in the shirt: And here’s Desmond: Stylin’. Still, I have a lot of questions here: What was Tupac doing in a Rockies shirt? I’m not even sure Tupac ever visited Colorado, and the origins of this picture are mysterious at best. Also the MLB hat and Pizza Hut box have to be mentioned, too — Pac knew how to put together an outfit. Apparently Desmond thought so too — he liked the look enough to have the shirts custom made: "I had Continue to Article

DENVER (AP) — A rough first inning could have meant an early exit for Pittsburgh starter Trevor Williams. The rookie settled down, though, and rode his offense to his first win in more than a month. Williams pitched 6 2/3 strong innings, and the surging Pirates beat the Colorado Rockies 13-5 on Friday night. Pittsburgh has won a season-high six straight and 12 of 14 to move a game above .500 for the first time since starting the season 3-2. “When we play our best baseball we can compete with any team out there,” said Andrew McCutchen, who had three hits and reached base five times. “Right now we’re doing it. Our starting pitchers have been phenomenal, and that’s the main reason we’re doing what Continue to Article

Jose Quintana emerged from the third-base dugout, taking in Wrigley Field for the first time in a Cubs uniform. But he quickly snapped back to Earth as he realized he and the other Cubs starting pitchers were to take batting practice and he forgot to bring his bat out. Ah, the life of an American League pitcher. It was no big deal, obviously. And minutes later, Quintana's new teammates were marveling at his swing. Even Jake Arrieta — who has five career homers (all during the last three seasons) and sported a .720 OPS last year — was impressed. Quintana doesn't start until Sunday night against the St. Louis Cardinals, so he has two days to acclimate to Wrigley Field. Which is good, because Quintana Continue to Article

To fire up Nolan Arenado , just give him a day off. Arenado lined three homers as part of his five-hit afternoon and tied a career-high with seven RBIs, helping the Colorado Rockies complete a three-game sweep of the San Diego Padres with an 18-4 victory Wednesday. "I don't like days off," Arenado said. Continue to Article
