Colorado Rockies
A worn-down Terry Collins candidly disclosed at the end of the last season that 2017 might be his final year managing if he felt health-wise at the end of this season like he did at that time. And given Collins is in the final year of his contract and the Mets are 39-47 at the All-Star break, it's hardly a leap to suggest the Mets will be changing managers during the offseason, while portraying it as Collins' decision. Assuming that materializes, who are the logical candidates for Sandy Alderson to turn to as manager?  Bob Geren, Dodgers bench coach A former manager of the Athletics, Geren was well-regarded by the Mets front office while serving as bench coach in Queens. New York Mets
The Mets' last-ditch effort to resuscitate their season with a strong start to the second half apparently never had a chance. Before the Mets opened their second half with a 14-2 rout against the Rockies to improve to 40-47 and pull within 9½ games of Colorado for the second wild-card spot with 75 games remaining, general manager Sandy Alderson left little doubt about the path he intends to pursue as the July 31 trade deadline approaches. New York Mets
At first blush, Mets G.M. Sandy Alderson’s most recent comments about NFL-quarterback-turned-minor-league-prospect Tim Tebow could be viewed as a clear indication that Tebow won’t be called up to the Mets in September, when rosters expand to 40. “Never crossed my mind until about 10 days ago when somebody said it was likely to happen,” Alderson told reporters on Friday, via ESPN.com. “Foresee” is a lawyer’s weasel word, and Alderson is a Harvard-trained weasel, um, lawyer. Teams looking to boost their offense have plenty of options on the trade market. Expect more National League teams to sell since only five clubs have a winning record. Jay Bruce, New York Mets, RF: Bruce is hitting .265 with 23 homers and 59 RBIs and is in the final season of a seven-year, $63 million contract. Continue to Article

Top prospect Amed Rosario represented the Mets at the Futures Game in Miami. Amed Rosario is ready for his major league close up, and like Mets fans it appears he’s growing impatient with the club’s reluctance to promote him. The Mets No. 1 prospect took to Twitter to express his feelings on Friday, temporarily posting a faux proposal that doubled as a plea to become the major league squad’s every day shortstop.
