New York Yankees
During Monday’s Home Run Derby, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge hit some monster homers. Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated detailed how the retractable roof of Marlins Park was designed, and who the engineers consulted with to try and make it unhittable. Back when the engineers from Walter P. Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox just announced that they have designated Pablo Sandoval for assignment. Sandoval, who signed a five-year, $95 million deal with Boston following the 2014 season, is one of the biggest busts in the history of free agency.  Over three seasons he’s played only 161 games and is hitting a paltry .237/.286/.360. "That was hard," Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said Friday afternoon of the decision. Continue to Article

Boston Red Sox
The $95 million man is on his way out of Boston. The Red Sox designated Pablo Sandoval for assignment on Friday, bringing an end to his time in Boston and punctuating one of the worst free agent deals in MLB history.  Sandoval is in the third year of the five-year, $95 million deal he signed after the 2014 season. He had played in just 32 games this year, and just 35 in the past two seasons.  He had been on the disabled list since mid-June and the Red Sox had to activate from his rehab stint in Pawtucket by Monday. With Sandoval contributing so little to the major league club, the Sox made the decision just to part ways and eat the remainder of his contract.  In 161 games with the Red Sox from Continue to Article

Boston Red Sox
The Chicago Cubs found the pitching help they were looking for just a few miles from Wrigley Field. The defending World Series champions acquired left-handed ace Jose Quintana from the White Sox on Thursday in a major trade between crosstown rivals that could shake up the NL Central race. By landing the 2016 All-Star, the Cubs made it clear they're not giving up on a difficult season after arriving at the break two games under .500. Continue to Article
