Chicago White Sox
A day off led to a big night for Nolan Arenado. The rest of the Colorado Rockies followed his lead in a breakout victory. Arenado returned to the lineup with a homer and drove in five runs, German Marquez tossed seven strong innings and had two hits, and the Rockies' slumbering offense awoke in a 12-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. DENVER -- Avisail Garcia is sidelined yet again, but thinks he’ll be ready in time for Tuesday’s All-Star Game. Free and clear of the knee injury that sidelined him for five days, the White Sox outfielder said Friday that he plans to return to the lineup by Sunday after he jammed his finger during his second at-bat on Wednesday. Garcia said he has some inflammation but only believes he’ll be out Friday and Saturday. “I’m playing Sunday,” Garcia said. “I will be fine. Sunday for sure. I can't grab my bat because of a little inflammation, but I will be OK though. “My knee feels good. Now it’s my finger. That’s baseball. An improved grasp of his abilities seems to have made quite a difference. Both Sanchez and the White Sox think that development is key to the second baseman’s growth. Now in his fourth season, Sanchez has taken an important step forward in establishing himself as a major leaguer. With three games left before the All-Star break, Sanchez has produced a career-best 1.2 f-Wins Above Replacement in 2017. “His confidence has really blossomed from last year to this year,” said third-base coach and former farm director Nick Capra. “He’s always had the talent and ability to Continue to Article

An improving change-up that repeatedly fooled the White Sox hitters was more than enough to offset the stomach illness that bothered Athletics pitcher Sonny Gray most of the afternoon. Another three-hit game from Jed Lowrie and four stolen bases by Rajai Davis definitely helped Gray feel a lot better, too. Gray pitched six mostly sharp innings to beat Chicago for the second time in two weeks and Oakland defeated the White Sox 7-4 on Wednesday. Continue to Article
