Each year, July 2 is the beginning of the period of time that major league organizations can sign international amateur free agents. It is an exciting time for many organizations that spend months, if not years, scouting players around the world in order to mine every last depth of the available talent pool. That is, unless you are the Orioles organization. To date, the Orioles have signed nobody on the international amateur market. Last year they signed five total, with the highest signing bonus given at $150,000. They spent a total of $260,000. The thrifty Rays spent $3,000,000 and they were under restrictions to spend money due to going over their spending pool limits in 2016. The Orioles Continue to Article

New York Yankees rookie sensation Aaron Judge and teammate Gary Sanchez announced Monday that they will participate in the Home Run Derby next week in Miami. The announcement was made via the Yankees' Twitter account after both players took time to consider their invitations, which were made last month. Judge leads the majors in home runs with 27. He also leads the American League in batting average (.327) and RBIs (62). Last month, Judge hit a 496-foot home run against the  Baltimore Orioles, the longest distance a home run has traveled since ESPN began tracking home runs in 2009. "I'm excited,'' he said Monday. "We've got a good group of guys going. Getting a chance to go up against Gary is Continue to Article

BALTIMORE -- Logan Morrison homered twice, Wilson Ramos hit a three-run drive and the Tampa Bay Rays beat Dylan Bundy and the Baltimore Orioles 10-3 on Saturday. Steven Souza had a solo shot for the Rays, who have 23 home runs in their last 12 games. Morrison, who connected in the first inning and again in the third, has 24 for the season -- a career high. Jake Odorizzi (5-3) was the beneficiary of Tampa Bay's 14-hit attack, which included four doubles. The right-hander pitched five innings, allowing at least three earned runs for the sixth start in a row. He also yielded a home run in his 12th successive appearance, a club record. The Rays will seek to complete a three-game sweep on Sunday. Continue to Article

Travis Shaw helped stake Brent Suter to a big early lead and the Milwaukee Brewers left-hander had little trouble handling the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. Shaw started the rout with a go-ahead single in a four-run first inning, then left after he was hit on his left hand by a pitch during the Brewers' 8-1 win over the Orioles. Backed by a 7-0 lead in the second, Suter (1-1) struck out eight over six innings, allowing an unearned run and four hits - all singles. Continue to Article
