The votes are in from both the players and the fans and the Orioles only have one player heading to the 2017 All-Star Game in Miami. Second baseman Jonathan Schoop was named as a reserve to the American League team. This is his first All-Star selection of his career. There’s no doubt that Schoop is having the best season of his career to date. On the merits of that, he certainly deserves selection. Still, the Orioles may be lucky for the rule that there must be at least one All-Star from every team - something that hasn’t come into play for them since the dark years. Manny Machado hit a three-run homer, Kevin Gausman pitched seven innings of two-hit ball and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-1 Sunday to avert a three-game sweep. Mark Trumbo also homered and Seth Smith had two RBIs for the Orioles, playing their final home game until July 14. Chance Sisco had a three-hit night for Norfolk and the trio of Bowie outfield prospects had big nights. Whenever I look at a Norfolk box score, the first name I look for is Chance Sisco. Maybe even better is that Sisco threw out one of the two runners who tried to steal a base on him in the game. Continue to Article
