New York Yankees
Yankees OF Dustin Fowler suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first inning of his MLB debut on Thursday night against the White Sox. Fowler suffered an open rupture of the patellar tendon in his right knee when he slammed into the wall down the right field line attempting to catch a foul ball. He underwent surgery shortly afater at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Yankees manager Joe Girardi was in tears after witnessing the injury. "It's one of the worst things I've seen on a baseball field," Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner said, according to the Washington Post. "I just can't imagine a worse scenario for him. It's heartbreaking. He's a good kid and a really, really good player Continue to Article

New York Yankees
Over the next few days the White Sox will get a taste of what their lineup would look like without Avisail Garcia. Strangely enough, it’s a position they’d prefer to not find themselves in again any time soon. After several years of mediocre performances, Garcia, who is out for a few days with a sore left knee, has produced an All-Star caliber season. The White Sox right fielder has been so good that teammates believe if he isn’t named an All-Star it would be a major oversight. Prior to Thursday night’s 4-3 White Sox victory over the New York Yankees at Guaranteed Rate Field, Garcia said an MRI taken earlier revealed only a “little inflammation” and soreness. He expects to return to action soon Continue to Article

Houston Astros
Astros rookie right-hander David Paulino endured a tough start Wednesday night, the latest in a string of valiant stopgap performances from Houston's young pitchers striving to make inroads while opportunity knocks. A pitcher who began the year in the Houston bullpen, right-hander Brad Peacock (4-1, 2.82 ERA), will start the series finale for the Astros against the Oakland A's on Thursday. Houston beat Oakland 11-8 on Wednesday after the Athletics won 6-4 on Tuesday in the series opener. Continue to Article

New York Yankees
Matt Holliday joined Starlin Castro, Aaron Hicks and Greg Bird on the disabled list of the slumping New York Yankees due to a viral infection. Manager Joe Girardi said Wednesday that Holliday returned to New York for more tests. Girardi said doctors ruled out mononucleosis. "We're really not seeing much improvement," Girardi said. "I think our biggest concern is with the fatigue factor and him not eating a lot. Even if he did start to feel better it would take three or four days to get his strength back, so when you start to add that all up you're looking at 10 days." He said Holliday has tended to feel worse as a day wears on. "I think he's probably lost a little weight," Girardi said. "He just Continue to Article

New York Yankees
Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse Chiefs fans who were interested in getting a glimpse of one of the New York Yankees best pitching prospects on Tuesday at NBT Bank Stadium barely had time to grab a handful of popcorn before the show was over. Rain postponed a contest between the Chiefs and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in the top of the second with the RailRiders leading 2-1. That squandered a start by the RailRiders' Chance Adams, a 2015 fifth-round pick who came into the game as one of the hottest young pitchers in the International League. He carried a 5-2 record and a 2.12 ERA before giving up one hit and one run in the one inning he pitched. After the abbreviated contest, Adams' answers Continue to Article
