Boston Red Sox
A friend of mine showed up last night at a place we sometimes meet. He looked like Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale after lobbing a game-ending home run to Aaron Judge of the Yankees. He was supposed to have been on a plane to Italy. I asked him what happened Continue to Article

Twins rookie lefty Adalberto Mejia is feeling more comfortable each time he takes the mound. Mejia pitched 5 2/3 innings in his second straight scoreless start, Max Kepler hit a two-run homer and Minnesota rebounded from two consecutive losses against Boston to beat the Red Sox 4-1 on Wednesday night. ''He did a nice job,'' Twins manager Paul Molitor said about Mejia. Continue to Article

BOSTON — Hanley Ramirez on Wednesday afternoon acknowledged his shoulders are bothering him more this year than last year. In specific, it’s the right (throwing) shoulder that’s bothersome, he said to CSNNE, noting it just doesn’t move as he wants it to — rotating his arm as he spoke. Asked how that happened, how it worsened, he said it was in spring training that he thinks he pushed it too hard. On the positive side, Ramirez said his shoulders are improving. Boston Red Sox
BOSTON — Two weeks ago, less than 48 hours after getting shelled at home by the Seattle Mariners, rookie left-hander Adalberto Mejia made a concerted effort to fix the problem. With pitching coach Neil Allen and bullpen coach Eddie Guardado looking on, the promising young Twins pitcher threw just five fastballs in a 30-pitch side session. The rest of his allotment was spent honing his changeup and sinker. Three starts later, it’s fair to say that session was pivotal. Mejia stretched his scoreless streak to 11 1/3 innings, working into the sixth for just the third time in 11 starts, as the Twins bounced back with a 4-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night at Fenway Park. Max Kepler’s Continue to Article

Chris Young hit a three-run homer and Christian Vazquez homered for the first time in more than a year as the Boston Red Sox routed the Minnesota Twins 9-2 on Tuesday night in a game delayed twice by stormy weather. Drew Pomeranz (7-4) pitched five innings, three after a 1 hour, 16 minute delay between the second and third as a thunderstorm slowly passed over Fenway Park. Despite the interruption, Pomeranz held the Twins to one unearned run and four hits, struck out seven and didn't walk a batter. Continue to Article
