As they promised they would, the St. Louis Cardinals announced on Friday plans for their first ever Pride Night at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals had been embattled in a little bit of controversy recently because they picked Lance Berkman to be their speaker at Christianity Day and Berkman’s views on the LGBTQ community aren’t exactly sympathetic. The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they will hold their first Pride Night on August 25th. A lot of teams have Pride Nights, but it’s worth noting that the Cardinals are holding one given some bad press — some fair, some unfair — they have received in recent years when it comes to matters of diversity and inclusion. Jon Hamm, the world's most famous (and well-endowed) St. Louis Cardinals fan, was photographed coming out of a movie theater in New York City last week. Hammbone was also with a woman: the very hilarious and lovely Jenny Slate, who's appeared in (among other things) Parks and Recreation and Kroll Show. The Cardinals offense has disappointed for much of the season, with injuries and unexpected performance dips waylaying several players projected to be major contributors.
