Detroit Tigers
Andrew Moore justified his surprising call-up with a solid performance - although Robinson Cano made his job a whole lot easier. Cano hit a grand slam and a two-run homer, Moore pitched seven effective innings to win in his big league debut, and the Seattle Mariners held off the Detroit Tigers 9-6 on Thursday night for their fifth straight victory. After five innings of offensive futility, Jarrod Dyson was just looking to get on base. San Diego Padres
After a week on the road, the Cubs (34-34) will return to Wrigley Field back at .500. The Cubs will host the San Diego Padres (28-42), beginning on Monday on CSN and live streaming on the NBC Sports app. The last time the Cubs and Padres squared off at the end of May, the North Siders were swept in San Diego. The Cubs will look for some revenge, and it'll start with Jon Lester on the mound for their series opener. After a three-game set, the Cubs will hit the road again to visit Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins (30-37). David Kaplan and David DeJesus discuss the Cubs' upcoming week in the latest Honda Road Ahead, which you can watch in the video above. Continue to Article
