Atlanta Braves
WASHINGTON -- Ryan Zimmerman hit his 18th and 19th home runs of the season in his return from back soreness, and the Washington Nationals scored five sixth-inning runs against R.A. Dickey to defeat the Atlanta Braves 10-5 on Tuesday night. Zimmerman went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs to help Washington snap a four-game slide after sitting out the last three. Daniel Murphy homered, doubled and had three hits and two RBIs as the NL-East leading Nationals scored eight runs against a second Braves starter in as many nights. Unlike Monday, Washington's bullpen held firm Tuesday with four relievers combining for 3 1/3 scoreless innings. Trevor Gott (1-0) worked out of the sixth for his first victory Continue to Article

Daniel Murphy didn’t exactly get the answer he was looking for when he asked umpire Alan Porter to shift out of his line of sight Tuesday. The Washington Nationals second baseman was on the field in the second inning against the Atlanta Braves when Porter got in his way. For what it’s worth, Murphy downplayed the incident after the Nats’ 10-5 over Atlanta. “Alan and I talked,” Murphy said, per The Washington Post. “I think we both Continue to Article

Washington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy asked umpire Alan Porter to move over during the second inning of the Nats’ 10-5 win Tuesday night over the Atlanta Braves. Makes you wonder: If the roles were reversed, would Washington Nationals star Daniel Murphy have been ejected? MLB umpire Alan Porter got into a disagreement with Nats star Daniel Murphy. Atlanta Braves
All the Washington Nationals needed to escape a four-game slide Tuesday night was slugger Ryan Zimmerman. Zimmerman returned from back soreness to hit his 18th and 19th homers and tie a career franchise record, and the Nationals scored five runs in the sixth inning off R.A. Dickey to end their skid with a 10-5 victory over the Atlanta Braves. ''It happens, man,'' Zimmerman said. Continue to Article
