BOSTON — Monday night’s 6-5 win over the Phillies in 11 innings was the closest thing this season to the ideal vision of the Sox offense. Boston Red Sox TV analyst Jerry Remy said Monday he has been diagnosed with lung cancer for a fifth time and will have surgery to treat it in two weeks. The 64-year-old Remy spoke to reporters before working the opener of Boston's two-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Boston Red Sox TV analyst Jerry Remy says on Twitter that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer again and will start treatment in two weeks. The 64-year-old Remy is expected to speak with reporters before he works Monday's opener of Boston's two-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Remy has been a popular Red Sox television analyst since 1988. He was a Boston infielder for seven seasons and is a member of the team's Hall of Fame. BOSTON — Beloved Red Sox announcer Jerry Remy says his cancer has returned. In a tweet Monday afternoon, Remy announced that he will undergo surgery in two weeks to remove a tumor from his lung. This new bout with cancer would be Remy's fifth. He told WCVB's Mike Lynch that he hopes to have surgery and return to the broadcast booth after the All Star Break. "I’m very fortunate.
