Ian Happ hit two homers, pinch hitter Jon Jay drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh with a single and the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-6 on Sunday night to complete a three-game sweep. Happ staked Chicago to a 6-4 lead with a solo homer in the third and a three-run drive in the fourth against Michael Wacha. Jay, batting for reliever Pedro Strop (2-2), broke a 6-6 tie with his two-out single off Matt Bowman (1-2) in the seventh. Anthony Rizzo had three hits and scored the go-ahead run, and the Cubs (28-27) moved back over .500 with their 10th home win in 12 games. Before Sunday night's game, Joe Maddon had a simple message on Ian Happ: "Let's see what happens tonight. He's gonna get hot again. That's just who he is. That's his DNA. This one was a two-out shot into the right-field bleachers and Continue to Article

First up, Tim McCarver and Dan McLaughlin were discussing Jon Lester's "yips" and how he never throws over to first base. This was as Cardinals outfielder Tommy Pham was dancing off first. McCarver mentioned how it's all just posturing on the part of Lester as the Cubs ace stepped off the rubber and faked to first base. "That's a trick," McCarver said. "He's not gonna throw to first base." Two seconds later, Lester threw to first to nab Pham. McCarver's follow up? "That's alright, it's worth it." Hmm... Later on in Continue to Article

For the first time in his young broadcasting career, David Ross is calling a game at Wrigley Field between his former team and the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday Night Baseball. The retired Cubs catcher was elevated to ESPN's No. 1 team for the special showdown at the Friendly Confines, and admitted during the broadcast that it's unusual watching the game from the stands. But Ross found a way to be part of the action. In between the second and third inning, Ross killed some time during the commercial break by playing catch with former teammate Jason Heyward from the bleachers before both of them had to get back to work.
