DETROIT (AP) -- Jordan Zimmermann tossed six solid innings and the Detroit Tigers used four home runs to power past the Chicago White Sox 10-1 on Saturday. Nicholas Castellanos and Alex Presley hit back-to-back homers in the second inning, and Alex Avila and Justin Upton also homered for the Tigers, who have outscored Chicago 25-6 in the first two games of the weekend series. Zimmermann (5-4) won for the second time in six starts, allowing one run and seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Detroit has won four of five. Miguel Gonzalez (4-6) lost his fifth straight road start, giving up six runs and 10 hits in six innings, including three of Detroit's homers. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus Continue to Article

Cubs 3, Cardinals 2: A much-needed off day on Thursday appears to have done the Cubs some good. ''We got in early Thursday morning, so it wasn't ideal, but the bats certainly came alive,'' Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. Continue to Article

Chicago White Sox

Whenever a pitcher from the Cubs, White Sox or an opponent throws a wayward ball, Rosenberg’s voice goes up a few octaves and delivers a dramatic and sharp “waaaaahhhhhld pitch!” so writers in the press box know how to rule the throw. My esteemed colleague Jeff Passan and I consider it one of our favorite things in baseball and quite possibly the world. Continue to Article

A Detroit Tigers minor leaguer who threw a baseball at an opponent during a brawl had the book thrown at him with a lengthy suspension on Thursday. Eduardo Jimenez was suspended 30 games for the shocking act, retroactive to Monday’s game. The 22-year-old relief pitcher for the Single-A West Michigan Whitecaps was just steps away from Dayton Dragons pitcher Jesse Stallings when he fired the ball toward him. Continue to Article
