A Detroit Tigers minor leaguer who threw a baseball at an opponent during a brawl had the book thrown at him with a lengthy suspension on Thursday. Eduardo Jimenez was suspended 30 games for the shocking act, retroactive to Monday’s game. The 22-year-old relief pitcher for the Single-A West Michigan Whitecaps was just steps away from Dayton Dragons pitcher Jesse Stallings when he fired the ball toward him. Continue to Article

General manager Al Avila had a mandate to cut payroll last winter, but when favorable offers for players such as second baseman Ian Kinsler and outfielder J.D. But other then stretches from 1906-1908 (Cubs’ Frank Chance, Sox’s Fielder Jones) or 1932-34 (Bears’ George Halas, Blackhawks’ Tom Gorman) or 1961-63 (Halas, Hawks’ Rudy Pilous), there’s never been two champion skippers working Continue to Article

BOSTON (AP) — Police have started carrying new protection for their K-9 partners: naloxone, a drug that has long been used to reverse opioid overdoses in humans. Even a tiny amount of powdered fentanyl can sicken both police officers and dogs who sniff out drugs during raids. Three police dogs in Florida were rushed to an animal hospital last year when they ingested fentanyl, a powerful painkiller often mixed with street heroin. The dogs were given naloxone and recovered quickly. Massachusetts State Police began carrying naloxone for their K-9s in March. Police in Hartford, Connecticut, began carrying it in January.
