A U.S. appeals court on Thursday closed another avenue for Bernard Madoff's victims to recoup money they lost, saying the trustee liquidating the swindler's firm can ignore transfers of fake profits between customer accounts when determining payouts. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled against several dozen former customers of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, including onetime New York Mets second baseman Tim Teufel, in endorsing trustee Irving Picard's methodology. When Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Eric Thames homered for the fifth consecutive game on April 17, in the middle of his blazing hot start, it was pretty funny when he went back to the clubhouse and found someone from MLB’s drug testing program waiting for him. Et tu, Mr. Met? The baseball-headed mascot for the New York Mets made headlines late Wednesday night after he gave the middle finger to fans at a game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field. The Mets lost, and a three-second video showing Mr. Met flipping the bird went viral on social media, inspiring a flood of memes and an apology from the team. "We apologize for the inappropriate action of this employee," the Mets wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. "We do not condone this type of behavior. We are dealing with this matter internally." Mr. Met should probably know better, given that he's 55 and no stranger to the mascot game. In 2012, Forbes even named him the No. 1 most popular sports Continue to Article

On July 31, 2015, we published the Mets Misery Index, inspired by Wilmer Flores weeping on the field. The Flores incident, which came one day after Jenrry Mejia’s second positive steroid test, looked like rock bottom for the Mets. The Mets, it turns out, are still plumbing the depths of misery, seeking to find out how low they can go. Continue to Article
