ATLANTA (CBS46) - A security officer is being criticized for snatching a ball away from a 6 year-old boy during the Braves game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at SunTrust Park Wednesday night. The officer wasn't completely at fault because he was kicking a man out who had interfered with the ball while it was in fair play before giving it to the youngster. Signs at the park clearly state that any fan who interferes with a ball in fair play will be immediately ejected from the ballpark but many on social media are saying the officer's actions were uncalled for. It wasn't all bad for the young boy. A Braves' representative says the boy was given a Freddie Freeman autographed ball and the ejected Continue to Article

The Atlanta Braves tried their best to make up with some fans who many feel were mistreated by an aggressive security member. During the eighth inning of Wednesday’s Braves-Pirates game, a fan reached over the railing and scooped up a ball down the right field line that was in play. The security guard handling that area acted promptly by jumping into the stands to eject the fan for interference. The guard also took the ball away from the child that received it from the adult. Clint Hurdle was managing to get one run in the 10th inning. Gift Ngoepe doubled to drive in Andrew McCutchen for the go-ahead run before Pittsburgh hit three straight homers during a seven-run 10th inning to beat the Atlanta Braves 12-5 on Wednesday night. ''Considering where we've been to this point of the season, it's nice to know that guys are still going up there battling,'' said Josh Harrison, who had a two-run single in the big inning. WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Memorabilia from the late Pittsburgh Pirates Willie Stargell, also known as ‘Pops’, is now up for auction. However, Stargell’s children are not too happy about it. A family friend reached out to WWAY with concerns following the announcement from his widow Margaret Weller-Stargell Tuesday. Weller-Stargell announced SCP auctions will auction off her late husbands most-prized baseball memorabilia. Items up for sale include Stargell’s National League MVP award, two World Series rings and his Hall of Fame induction ring. According to a Facebook post, Stargell’s children say they were ‘blindsided’ by the auction and believe their dad’s belongings should be placed in the Baseball Continue to Article

An alarm and an emergency evacuation message on a sign board during the Atlanta Braves game turned out to be a false alarm. An equipment malfunction during an altercation at a ballpark restaurant was the source of confusion in the top of the third, the Braves said Tuesday night. The alarm blared for about 5 seconds and a message flashed on sign boards stating an emergency had been reported in the building and an evacuation was taking place. Atlanta pitcher R.A. Dickey paused for a couple of seconds before his next toss to Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen. The umpires didn't stop play and the game continued without interruption. The Braves tweeted in the fourth inning that "everything is operating Continue to Article
