St. Louis Cardinals
A young Cardinals' fan shows off his Mexican pride at "Fiesta Cardenales." St. Louis has the smallest Latino population of any big city in the country — in fact, of the nation's 25 largest metro areas, we're the only one that's less than five percent Latino. If you read Doyle Murphy's cover story last October, you got the complicated explanation, which basically comes down to immigration patterns. Anna Crosslin, president and CEO of the International Institute, says Hispanic immigration routes or "flow patterns" traditionally split off south of St. Louis in Missouri's bootheel, with one path running into Illinois toward the Metro East or Chicago. St. Louis historically has gotten skipped. Continue to Article

IPG’s agency sources tell us that Momentum Worldwide, which triumphed in last year’s biggest review by winning the SAP account, has emerged victorious in what will be one of this year’s largest, taking the Chevron account. After a review that stretched more than seven months, Momentum is now Chevron’s sponsorship and experiential agency of record. The gas retailer’s portfolio includes sponsorships proximate to Chevron’s Northern California headquarters and its production facilities in Texas, including the Pac-12 Conference, San Francisco 49ers Foundation, Oakland A’s and San Francisco Giants. Other big-name sponsorships for Chevron include the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, Southern Cal Continue to Article

Barry Bonds getting hired as a special advisor to the CEO of the San Francisco Giants earlier this year was as much about Bonds getting accepted back into the Giants fold as it was him helping the players on the field this season. It’s not the end-all-be-all of Bonds worship, but it’s a good start for an organization that’s wrestled with how to celebrate Bonds’ cloudy legacy. Continue to Article

SAN FRANCISCO -- As expected, the Giants placed Hunter Pence on the 10-day disabled list Monday with a strained left hamstring. Mac Williamson was called up from Triple-A Sacramento to take Pence's roster spot.  Pence was first out of the lineup on Friday, although he pinch-hit late in a 17-inning win. He didn't play over the weekend, so the Giants can back-date the DL stint to Saturday, May 13. It's unclear how long Pence is expected to be out, although it should be a short stint, since he was available to pinch-hit Sunday. He will be eligible to return during the Giants' four-game series against the Cubs next week in Chicago. "It looks like it'll be a few days," manager Bruce Bochy said before Continue to Article

St. Louis Cardinals
ST. LOUIS – Jake Arrieta has lost the air of invincibility that surrounded him during his Cy Young Award season in 2015. Even Joe Maddon – a relentlessly optimistic manager by nature – doesn’t pretend the Cubs expect to ever see that again. Arrieta went through stretches last year where he looked unsure and out of sync with his mechanics. He still finished with 18 wins and a 3.10 ERA and beat the Cleveland Indians twice in the World Series. The story of how a last-place team transformed into a championship organization cannot be written without Arrieta, who infused the Cubs with so much attitude and confidence, his Bob Gibson impression helping fuel 97 wins and a spending spree that approached Continue to Article
