Seattle Mariners
SEATTLE — Headed for another meltdown that looked all too familiar, the A’s instead provided fans a welcome plot twist. After blowing a three-run lead in the seventh, the A’s roared back with five runs in the ninth and rang up a 9-6 victory over the Mariners to snap their four-game losing streak. All signs pointed to the kind of collapse that’s been a theme for the A’s on this six-game road trip, after Seattle rallied from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game in the seventh. Kyle Seager then homered off Ryan Madson in the eighth to put Seattle ahead 5-4. The diagnosis was confirmed on Friday by Dr. Ed Khalfayan. Continue to Article

Two of those sources say the Laney College property has edged into the lead as the team’s preferred spot. Continue to Article

The ongoing deliberation over where to build a new ballpark for the Oakland A’s reportedly now has a leading candidate. Oakland Magazine’s Robert Gammon reported Wednesday that the A’s are focused on Laney College near Lake Merritt and a waterfront facility at Howard Terminal next to Jack London Square. Two of Gammon’s  sources suggested Laney College is the team’s top preference. The current Coliseum site is reportedly in third place and a site on the estuary southeast of Jack London Square is out of the running. A survey of local residents showed that Laney College is the No. 1 location, according to Gammon, who noted that “the pollster heavily on Laney” and “only asked one question about Howard Continue to Article

Unless you’re the type who likes to do interior decorating with your fists when you get frustrated, you should be able to get through those bad moments with only some mental anguish. This Texas Rangers fan wasn’t so fortunate. Following Sunday’s game against the Seattle Mariners, he left the park with more than just a bruised ego. Keep a close eye on the fan in the red Prince Fielder jersey during that highlight. Continue to Article
